WHAT WE DO

The Air Training Corps is a military orientated and uniformed organisation sponsored by the Ministry of Defence and the Royal Air Force. A cadet can learn how to fly in powered and unpowered aircraft as well as learn a wealth of essential field training skills such as navigation and first aid. Being a cadet can be educationally rewarding as well as there is a number of BTEC Diplomas' that can be gained through doing your normal cadet activities.

Flying isn't for everyone - and flying isn't what we're all about. Air Cadets offers many other activities such as shooting, various sports and watersports, the Duke of Edinburgh Award, Leadership, Field Exercises, Adventure Training and Much, Much more!

Flying and Gliding

Joining the Air Cadets opens up lots of opportunities, including the chance to fly! It’s our aim to get you airborne as often as possible, as a passenger in a light aircraft, a glider or even on-board RAF aircraft such as our Typhoon fast-jet or a Chinook helicopter.

Adventurous Training

Adventurous Training is an essential part of the Air Cadet's training syllabus and the place where team effort really matters - you'll build new friendships, and learn to rely on the other people you're with to get the job done. It also lets you show off your leadership qualities.

Duke of Edinburgh Award

At 2065 Sqn you have the opportunity to get involved with the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award scheme.

the DofE Award is a real adventure from beginning to end. It is a non-competitive and achievable by all award. The Award demands commitment, and the more you put into it the more you will get out.

First Aid

First Aid is a vital element of Air Cadet training. The number and range of environments in which we train can result in Cadets and Staff encountering many and varied incidents. It is of great community value to us to be able to respond proficiently and professional on these occasions.

Training and Education

Aside from all the great experiences and new skills you'll gain as an air cadet, you can also take away real qualifications that will set you apart from the crowd when you head to University or begin your chosen career.

Shooting

Whatever level you are as a cadet, you'll have the opportunity to try your hand at military skills and drills including shooting. Marksmanship goes a long way back in the history of Air Cadets and is one of our most popular activities. As you progress through the syllabus you'll experience different types of weapons, firing positions and take part in shooting competitions

Camps

There a many different varieties of camps open to cadets, each offering something different.

Some of the camps include, Adventure training, Aerospace, Drill and Ceremonial, Easter Camp (Fieldcraft), Royal international Air Tattoo and Summer Camps to name a few.

Leadership

You can prove your worth as a leader - a skill that will build your confidence and your ability to deal with different kinds of people. We offer Wing and Regional Leadership Courses, Cadet Leadership Courses and The Air Cadet Junior Leaders Course.

Cyber and Space

For those curious about computer and networking skills, programming, cyber security and cyber warfare.

Parade and drill

What's the point of drill and parade? You may think it doesn't have much to do with things like adventurous training, or leadership. That's not the case at all! It shows how disciplined and organised you can be as an individual, remembering instructions and carrying them out accurately. More importantly, it shows your ability to work in a team and is a way of displaying the high standards of dress and behavior which air cadets are renowned for.
